It is a thick jelly board that is perfect for slicing meat and fish. It is not grainy like my farberware. I am very pleased to own this cutting board. It is small though so this is not good as one's only board. I really like the feel of this cutting board in my hand. It's always the first one I reach for. It's a very handy size, big enough for some serious chopping but small enough to handle and store easily. It grips the counter top well and has a good "feel" under the knife. It seems to be holding up better than my other plastic board, which quickly became noticeably scratched, scarred, and stained.
